• R410A

    Pentafluoroethane/Difluoromethane (R410A)

CAS No.:354-33-6/75-10-5 UN No.: 3163 CLASS No.: 2.2 Molecular formula: CF3CHF2/CH2F2

R410A is a mixture of R32 and R125, which can be used to replace R22.

  • R410A

R410A is a zeotropic blend of difluoromethane (R32, CAS 75-10-5) and pentafluoroethane (R125, CAS 354-33-6) in a 50%/50% mass fraction. It's a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) commonly used as a replacement for R22 in air conditioning applications.

  • Applications

    Residential Air Conditioning

Primary refrigerant in split-system and packaged AC units

    Commercial Air Conditioning

Applied in rooftop units, VRF systems, and chillers

    Heat Pumps

Both air-source and water-source heat pump systems

    Transport Refrigeration

    Some mobile air conditioning applications

    Dehumidificationa Systems

    Industrial and commercial dehumidifiers

  • Physical & Chemical Properties

    Physical Properties

    Boiling Point (1 atm): -51.5°C (-60.7°F)

    Critical Temperature: 71.4°C (160.5°F)

Critical Pressure: 4.81 MPa (698 psia)

    Liquid Density (25°C): ~1,060 kg/m³

    Vapor Density (air=1): ~3.0

    ODP (Ozone Depletion): 0

GWP (Global Warming): 2,088 (IPCC AR5)

    Flammability: A1 - Non-flammable (R32 flammability fully suppressed by R125)

    Thermodynamic & Performance Characteristics

Glide: Negligible (<0.1°C) - Behaves almost like a single-component refrigerant, simplifying system design and charging.

Operating Pressure: ~50-60% higher than R22. Requires specifically designed components (compressors, heat exchangers, piping).

Volumetric Cooling Capacity: ~40-50% higher than R22. Allows for more compact system designs.

Coefficient of Performance (COP): Generally 5-8% higher than R22 in optimized systems.

Discharge Temperature: Similar to or slightly lower than R22, good for compressor reliability.

Heat Transfer: Superior heat transfer coefficients compared to R22.

    Material Compatibility & Handling

Lubricant: Polyol Ester (POE) Oil exclusively. Not miscible with mineral or alkylbenzene oils.

Seal Materials: Compatible with HNBR, EPDM, Neoprene. Avoid natural rubber.

Metals: Compatible with copper, brass, steel, aluminum.

Charging Method: Can be charged as liquid or vapor with minimal composition shift due to near-azeotropic nature.

System Design: Must use components rated for higher pressure (typically ≥400 psi working pressure).
